Eligibility Criteria & Standards
Educational Requirements
- Civilian Candidates: Minimum Matriculation (8th-pass candidates may be considered if suitable Matric-qualified applicants are unavailable in specific categories). Preference is given to candidates with higher educational qualifications (F.Sc / F.A / Graduation).
- Ex-Servicemen: Equivalent military qualification (retired army personnel).
Age Limit (As of October 28, 2026)
- Civilian Candidates: 18 to 30 years.
- Note: The age range includes a general 5-year relaxation provided by the government. Preference is given to candidates aged between 18 and 22 years during the final merit selection.
- Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation is granted according to existing government rules.
Physical Fitness Standards (Male Candidates)
- Height: Minimum 5 feet 6 inches ($5’6”$). Candidates with a height of $5’8”$ or taller receive additional preference during final selection.
- Chest Size: Minimum 33 inches (with a $1\frac{1}{2}$-inch expansion).
- Weight: Minimum 121 lbs (approx. 55 kg) or as per the standard Body Mass Index (BMI) medical chart.

Ineligibility Criteria

Selection Process Workflow
- Initial Screening & Physical Test: Physical efficiency tests including running, push-ups, and measurement checks.
- Written Examination: Testing general knowledge, basic mathematics, English, and Urdu language skills.
- Psychological & Intelligence Test: Evaluates personality traits and aptitude for service.
- Final Interview: Conducted by the recruitment board at HQ Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), Lahore.
- Detailed Medical Examination: Comprehensive medical checks at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore or Mandi Bahauddin, including:
